Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what applicants and employers usually ask before they get in touch. If yours is not here, message us and we will answer it.

Choosing a course

Which course should I start with?

It depends on your background and your goal. If you are new to the field, start with the fundamentals, such as Fibre Optics Technology. If you already work in telecom, look at the specialist courses. Each course page says what it covers, and our admissions team can advise you if you are unsure. You can also choose "Not sure yet" on the application form.

Do I need experience in telecom?

Some courses start from the basics and others expect a little background. Where a course needs it, the course page lists what you should know before you start. If it does not say, ask admissions.

Are the courses hands-on?

Yes. We focus on practical, hands-on training led by people from the telecom industry, at our campus in East Legon, Accra.

What is Tech Summer Field Training?

It is a separate programme for students, with its own application form. Read the Tech Summer page for what it covers and who can apply.

Certification

What is an FOA-Approved School?

The Fiber Optic Association (FOA) is a professional association for fibre optics. An FOA-Approved School is authorised to offer FOA certifications. Admintelecom Academy is FOA-Approved School number 759, and you can check this on the FOA website.

Which FOA certifications can I earn?

We offer CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) and CFOS/H (Certified Fibre Optics Specialist / Home). Each course page says whether it leads to a certification.

Applying

How do I apply?

Use the Apply now button, choose your course and fill in the short form. You can add your CV if you like (PDF or Word, up to 5 MB). Our admissions team then contacts you.

What happens after I apply?

We receive your application, we get in touch to talk through your plans, and you start training once a place is confirmed.

What do the courses cost and when is the next intake?

Fees, entry requirements and intake dates are confirmed by our admissions team for each course. Ask us by phone, WhatsApp or the contact form.

What does the optional agency box on the form mean?

If you tick it, our sister company Admincity Agency keeps your details so that it can suggest job opportunities when you finish your training. It is optional and has no effect on your application.

Companies and groups

Can you train a team from our company?

Yes. Choose "Training for a company or group" on the contact form and tell us what your team needs. We will come back to you to talk about the options.

Where are you based?

In East Legon, Adjiringanor, Accra, opposite Allied Petrol Station (Trasaco Street). The contact page has a map and directions.
